Belleville, Ill. - Midland University kicked off their 2013 season with two wins as they defeated No. 7 Missouri Baptist, 12-10, and Lindenwood University – Belleville, 21-0.
In Midland's first contest, Sarah Hill led the Warriors with five goals in the win. Rylee Moore-Ryberg picked up a hat-trick, and Brianna Quandt added two more scores. Alexis Morris, Brittnee DeVries all landed goals on the afternoon.
In game two Midland blanked Lindenwood University – Belleville. The Warriors were led by Brittnee DeVries, who scored five goals and recorded one assist. Sarah Hill and Rylee Moore-Ryberg picked up a hat-trick while Erica Weidner and Tori Fenger both added two goals. Ari Traynor, Dominique Romero, Lauren Burkey, Jessica Flowers, Alexis Morris, and Brianna Quandt all added scores in the victory. Morris led the Warriors with three assists.
"We have some small things to work on, but overall we played very well today and got two solid conference wins," said Christine Hatton, Midland University lacrosse head coach. "We had several underclassmen step up today and I am very proud of the whole team. This is a great way to start off the season."
Midland University is 2-0 on the season. The Warriors will play Robert Morris College Sunday, March 3. The game is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
