The Midland University men's cross country and track team announced Tuesday that Alex Way has signed a letter of intent to compete for the Warriors.

Way comes to Midland University from Fremont, Neb. where he attends Fremont High School. Under the direction of head coach, Sean McMahon, Way competed for the Tigers on the 2012 and 2010 Nebraska State Championship and Heartland Athletic Conference Championship cross country teams, and the 2011 state Runner-Up squad.

Individually, Alex was awarded the Fremont Cross Country Teammate of the Year Award in 2011 and has recorded a 17:45 5K personal best time.

"I chose Midland because I feel that I will be able to grow as an athlete on the team. I believe Midland is the right ability level for me, both as a teammate and an athlete," said Way.

Alex is the son of Ronald and Julie Way, and will join the Warriors in the fall of 2013.
