Midland University captured their eighth straight victory Saturday, beating the three time defending GPAC champions, Northwestern College, in five sets (25-21, 18-25, 25-12, 14-25, 15-11).
"I was proud of the way the team fought through mistakes to get another big conference win," said Paul Giesselmann, Midland University head volleyball coach. "We still need to play better, but I think this win shows our program has made big strides."
Katie Dettmer led the Warriors with 14 kills while Halie Wewel had 12 kills. Ashley Wheeler added 9 kills with three service aces. Becca Gradoville led the team in digs with 22 and Kelsey Abels recorded 13 digs. Megan Farley finished the game with 45 set assists.
The win marks the Warriors' 13th win in the last 15 matches and raises their GPAC record to 6-0. With the win, the Warriors move to 14-5 on the season and exceed last season's overall win total.
Midland University will continue conference play in Hastings, Neb., versus Hastings College on Wednesday, Oct. 5. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m.
