FREMONT, Neb. – Zach Voss had himself a weekend as he accounted for seven goals as Midland University defeated Williston State College 8-0 and 7-0 on Friday and Saturday at Sidner Ice Arena. With the sweep the Warriors improve to 3-5 on the year while the Tetons fall to 0-2.
Voss, a junior from Virginia, Minnesota, score four goals in the opening game Friday night. The Warriors controlled the flow of the game from the first puck drop. Voss' first goal, and eventual game-winner, came at the 8:18 mark of the first. He would add two more in the second for the hat-trick and a fourth in the final period.
Sean Kelley earned the shutout as he stopped all 17 of the Tetons attempts on net.
Saturday night proved to be more of the same as Voss started thing off with a goal less than six minutes into the contest. Kevin Gregory and Blake Neumann also had a goal each as Midland jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the first intermission.
Ben Henry and Voss would score in the second to increase the lead to 5-0.
Sanko and Voss added two more in the third to cap off the weekend.
The Warriors will look to continue their hot-offensive streak this weekend as they travel to take on No. 1-ranked and defending AHCA Division 1 champions, Central Oklahoma. The Warriors and the Bronchos will play at 7:45 p.m. on Friday and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in Edmond, Oklahoma.
