Daytona Beach, Fla. - Midland University competed in the NCA Collegiate Cheer Championship on Thursday and Friday. After just missing finals qualification on day one, the Warriors bounced back to earn a third place finish in the NAIA Challenge Cup.
"All a competitive cheer coach can ask for is to finish the season with full effort and tons of energy," said Chuck Lott, Midland University cheer head coach. "Our squad definitely did that in this competition. I could not have asked for a better ending for my student-athletes, and this is a very good step in the direction I want this program going. "
On Thursday the Warriors fell just short of the finals, missing the final cut by two tenths of a point. Midland improved on day two, overcoming Culver-Stockton College (Mo.) and Aquinas College (Mich) to earn third place in the NAIA Challenge Cup.
The NAIA Small Coed competition is one of three NAIA cheer competitions in the second annual NAIA Cheer Invitational.
