Midland Drops Weekend Series to No. 11 UMary
FREMONT, Neb. — Midland University hosted the University of Mary for a weekend series on Friday and Saturday night inside Sidner Ice Arena. The Warriors dropped both games to the No. 11 Marauders.
FRIDAY: UMary 4, Midland 1
The Marauders opened the game with an early goal at the 2:46 mark of the first period. Ethan Brown responded a few minutes later at 6:41 with a goal assisted by Thomas Babb and Karl Grafelman to tie the game at 1-1. UMary regained the lead with a goal at 8:54 and held a 2-1 advantage after the first.
The Marauders added a cushion late in the second period with a goal at the 17:46 mark.
UMary scored again early in the third at 2:22 and held Midland scoreless the rest of the way, handing the Warriors a 4-1 loss.
Liam Tereposky played the full 60 minutes in goal, making 35 saves.
SATURDAY: UMary 3, Midland 0
The Marauders struck first in the opening period with a goal at the 15:48 mark to lead 1-0. They added another in the second period at 15:23 and scored the final goal of the night at 5:53 in the third, shutting out Midland 3-0.
Tereposky again played the full 60 minutes and recorded 33 saves.
UMary held a slight advantage in shot attempts, 36-34.
Midland (5-14-1) will take a month-long break for the holiday before returning home for a weekend series against Jamestown on Jan. 9-10. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. both nights inside Sidner Ice Arena.
