Second-Ranked Warriors End Regular Season with Sweep
FREMONT, Neb. – No. 2 Midland University continued its stretch of home games over the weekend as No. 10 University of Jamestown visited Sidner Ice Arena for the regular-season finale. The Warriors, who welcomed back alumni on Friday and honored their seniors on Saturday, swept the Jimmies with a 6-0 shutout Friday night, followed by a 2-1 victory Saturday.
FRIDAY: Midland 6, Jamestown 0
It was a fairly quiet first period, but the Warriors struck in the opening minutes to take a 1-0 lead. Just over four minutes into the game, Jordan Bell scored off a feed from Katie McNair and Taylor Bell.
Midland added three goals in the second period. Kennedy Wood opened the scoring in the frame on a feed from Brynn Tosh at the 6:20 mark. Five minutes later, Callie Maguire found the back of the net with assists credited to Jaden Greenlee and Darbi Poole. Poole added the final goal of the period, scoring unassisted with just over three minutes remaining before the second intermission.
Ashlyn Kuffler added to the lead early in the third period, scoring at the 3:24 mark with assists from Jordan and Taylor Bell. Kiara McGregor closed out the scoring just before the midway point of the period, netting a short-handed goal off a feed from Poole to make it 6-0.
Meghan Stewart earned the win in net for Midland, recording 16 saves for her 11th victory of the season. The Warriors outshot the Jimmies 41-16. Jamestown split time between two goaltenders.
SATURDAY: Midland 2, Jamestown 1
The Warriors once again jumped out to an early lead and carried a 1-0 advantage into the first intermission. At the 6:53 mark of the opening period, Callie Maguire scored off a feed from Ava Matthews-McCulley and Kiara McGregor.
Jamestown responded in the second period with the lone goal of the frame, scoring near the midpoint to tie the game and keep its upset bid alive.
The teams remained tied midway through the third period. With 11:50 remaining, Jamestown was whistled for a tripping penalty, giving Midland a power-play opportunity. Just seven seconds into the advantage, Ashlyn Kuffler scored what proved to be the game-winner with assists from Katie McNair and Maguire.
Jamestown's defense prevented an insurance goal down the stretch but struggled to generate sustained offensive pressure as Midland controlled possession and skated to its 25th win of the season.
Natalie Rampton earned her seventh win of the year while picking up 19 saves. Midland owned the shots on goal battle, 31 to 20.
Prior to the series and regular-season finale, Midland honored its 2026 graduating class of Ava Matthews-McCulley, Brynn Tosh, Taylor Bell, Callie Maguire, Darbi Poole, Sabrina Durham, and Davanna Ditto.
Midland (25-4-3) now turns its attention to the postseason as the Women's Midwest College Hockey League begins tournament play next week. The Warriors are expected to earn the No. 2 seed in the tournament, which begins Thursday, Feb. 19, in Fremont. Official seedings and pairings will be announced following the final ACHA national poll on Monday evening.
