Warriors Finish Second at Bronco Invite

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – Over the weekend, the Midland University shotgun sports team competed in the Bronco Invite, hosted by Hastings College. The Warriors finished second in the high overall (HOA) team competition, tallying 1,786 targets across the four disciplines of skeet, trap, super sporting clays, and sporting clays. William Penn University won the team title with a score of 1,817.

Warrior teammates Andrew Grell and Ben Swanson tied for seventh in the HOA individual competition with scores of 351. Jake Ruehl, Atley Painter, and Gil Palmer tied for ninth at 349.

In the HOA female competition, Whitney Wiseman placed third with a score of 331, while Makayla Blashill finished ninth with a 321.

Chase Carrere led Midland in the skeet competition, shooting a 99. In the women's skeet event, Wiseman finished second with a score of 97.

The Warriors claimed first place in the skeet team competition with a score of 489. Carrere led the way with a 99, followed by Ruehl and Audric Scheidel with 98s, while Swanson and Wiseman each recorded 97s.

In sporting clays, Grell and Painter led Midland with scores of 85. The Warriors placed second in the team competition with a total of 410, with Michael Martinez adding an 84, Hunter Martin a 79, and Swanson a 77.

In super sporting clays, Grell, Ruehl, and Swanson each recorded 82s. Midland finished second in the team competition with a 402, as Palmer added an 81 and Painter a 75.

In trap, Palmer led the Warriors with a 99, which earned him second overall. Alexandra Klocek followed with a 98, while Ruehl, Graden Duckworth, and Lacey Gangwish each posted 96s. The Warriors finished second in the team standings with a total of 485.

Midland will return to action Oct. 25-26 at the Bobcat 300, hosted by Peru State in Lincoln, Nebraska.
