Denkert Named GPAC Player of the Week

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced this week's players of the week for games played the week of October 16-22, 2023. Tyson Denkert of Midland University was selected as the GPAC Offensive Player of the Week while Braden Pommier Williams of Briar Cliff and Casper Feijen of Hastings were voted as the GPAC Defense and Special Teams POTW.

Denkert, a sophomore from Kenesaw, Nebraska, ran for 231 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Midland defeated Doane 27-10 on homecoming/senior day. He added 11 yards receiving and 16 as a kick returner for 258 all-purpose yards. Denkert is just the second player from the GPAC to eclipse the 200-yard mark on the ground his season, joining Konner McQuillan of Northwestern who did it during the first week of the season.

Midland (5-4, 4-4 GPAC) will be in action this Saturday when it travels to take on Concordia University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium in Seward, Nebraska.
