Warriors Record Second Consecutive Shutout Win
FREMONT, Neb. — Midland University continued its four-game homestand by hosting Bethel College on Wednesday afternoon at Heedum Field. The Warriors defeated the Threshers, 67-0. The shutout was Midland's second in a row after blanking Cottey College on Saturday.
Midland scored 13 points in the first quarter and added 29 in the second to take a 42-0 lead into halftime. The Warriors added a pair of touchdowns in each of the next two quarters to finish off the 67-0 victory.
The Warriors ran 40 plays for 434 yards of total offense. Midland completed 26 of 34 passes for 386 yards and rushed six times for 48 yards. Bethel ran 42 plays for 87 yards of total offense. The Threshers completed 9 of 19 passes for 107 yards and rushed 23 times for minus-20 yards.
Individually for Midland, Lotta Wulff completed 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions. Karina Alfaro connected on 9 of 12 passes for 165 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Wulff also led Midland in rushing with four carries for 38 yards.
In receiving, Allaya Livingston caught five passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. Melanie Archuleta had six receptions for 75 yards and a score. Holiness Hodges grabbed four passes for 47 yards and two touchdowns. Olivia Dominguez-Millsop recorded three receptions for 46 yards and two touchdowns. Emily Ferron added two catches for 38 yards and a touchdown, while Skyler Cooley had two receptions for 25 yards and a score. Alyssa Butler finished with two catches for 19 yards and a touchdown.
For Bethel, Kyndall Longman completed 3 of 7 passes for 46 yards with two interceptions. C.J. Bundy went 6 of 12 passing for 43 yards with two interceptions. Sarah Contreras had one carry for four yards, while Bundy also caught two passes for 49 yards.
Defensively for Midland, Archuleta led the way with four tackles. Alfaro recorded 3.5 tackles and one interception. Dominguez-Millsop had one tackle and a 28-yard interception return. Livingston added one tackle and a 29-yard interception return, and Emma Rodriguez returned an interception 18 yards.
Bethel was led defensively by Longman, who finished with five tackles.
Midland (3-2, 3-1 KCAC) will wrap up its homestand on Saturday when it welcomes William Woods (1-1, 1-1 KCAC) to Heedum Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Fremont.
