Road Win Extends Warrior Win Streak

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – (RV) Midland University pushed its win streak to four games with a 61-7 victory over the University of Saint Mary on Wednesday night at Charles B. Merkel Stadium. The Warriors recorded their second consecutive road win.

The Warriors led 14-0 after the first quarter and built a 41-0 advantage by halftime. Midland added another touchdown in the third quarter to extend the lead to 48-0. Two more fourth-quarter scores pushed the margin to 61-0 before the Spires broke up the shutout with a touchdown in the final minute.

Midland ran 49 plays for 346 yards of total offense, completing 32 of 43 passes for 333 yards. The Warriors rushed six times for 13 yards.

Saint Mary finished with 106 total yards on 52 plays. The Spires completed 14 of 26 passes for 70 yards and rushed 26 times for 36 yards.

Lotta Wulff led Midland offensively, completing 22 of 30 passes for 260 yards with six touchdowns and one interception. Karina Alfaro went 10 of 13 for 73 yards and a touchdown. Holiness Hodges rushed once for nine yards and added 10 receptions for 95 yards and three touchdowns. Alyssa Butler caught five passes for 83 yards and two scores, while Olivia Dominguez-Millsop recorded three receptions for 20 yards and two touchdowns. Emma Rodriguez had two carries for three yards, both resulting in touchdowns.

For the Spires, Kyendra Thomas completed 7 of 13 passes for 33 yards with one touchdown and one interception while rushing 13 times for 32 yards. Eli Miranda totaled five receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Eunice Sombilay led Midland with 7.5 tackles. Rodriguez added an interception. For Saint Mary, Ma'Kayla Acres and Yaneila Romanlopez each recorded six tackles, and Romanlopez added an interception.

Midland (5-2, 5-1 KCAC) remains on the road this weekend for the Cougar Classic in Fort Wayne, Indiana, hosted by the University of Saint Francis. The Warriors are scheduled to face (RV) Siena Heights at 8 a.m., (RV) Campbellsville at 11 a.m., and Saint Francis at 2 p.m. at Bishop John M. D'Arcy Stadium.
