Midland Returns to Win Column with Shutout Victory

FREMONT, Neb. —Midland University hosted Graceland University at Heedum Field on Tuesday night in an important conference clash. After dropping their last three games, the Warriors responded with a 26-0 victory in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) action.

Midland opened the scoring in the first quarter when Lotta Wulff threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Holiness Hodges. The conversion was successful, giving the Warriors a 7-0 lead with 3:54 remaining in the quarter. After forcing a turnover, Midland struck again two plays later as Wulff connected with Melanie Archuleta for an 11-yard touchdown. The conversion made it 14-0 with 2:31 left in the first.

The Warriors added 12 points in the second quarter to take a 26-0 lead into halftime. Neither team scored in the second half.

Midland totaled 259 yards on 48 plays. The Warriors went 32-of-42 passing for 285 yards while rushing six times for minus-26 yards. Graceland ran 51 plays for 122 yards, completing 19-of-47 passes for 141 yards and rushing four times for minus-19 yards.

Individually, Wulff completed 28-of-37 passes for 254 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. Allaya Livingston had one rush for two yards. Alyssa Butler recorded three receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. Archuleta added six catches for 49 yards and a score, while Hodges totaled seven receptions for 16 yards and a touchdown.

For Graceland, Sierra Flores completed 12-of-27 passes for 95 yards with three interceptions. Delaney Mondino led the receiving corps with seven catches for 64 yards.

Defensively, Midland was led by Hodges with four tackles and two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. Emily Ferron and Olivia Dominguez-Millsop each recorded three tackles and an interception, while Butler also added a pick.

For the Yellowjackets, Sadie Lee posted nine tackles. Kylie Overkamp totaled four tackles, three sacks, and an interception. Flores added 3.5 tackles and an interception, while Lazaiya Kinville recorded two tackles and an interception. Graceland falls to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in KCAC play.

Midland (7-5, 6-2 KCAC) returns to action Saturday, April 4, when it hosts Baker (10-1, 6-1 KCAC). Kickoff at Heedum Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Fremont.
