Warriors Compete Among Large Field at Leatherneck Classic
ROCKFORD, Ill. – Midland University returned to the lanes over the weekend, competing in the Leatherneck Classic in Rockford, Illinois, on Saturday and Sunday. After Day 1, the Warriors were within striking distance of qualifying for bracket play, sitting three spots out in 11th place. However, they were unable to make up ground on Sunday, finishing 15th out of 39 teams with a total pinfall of 7,815.
Individually, Kaeden White led the Warriors, placing 25th out of 457 bowlers with a total pinfall of 1,064. White finished strong, rolling two games over 250 to post a tournament average of 212.8 through five games. Michael Saxton was Midland's next finisher, averaging 201.6 over five games with two over 225, placing 55th with a pinfall of 1,008.
Christopher Taliva'a finished 244th after bowling four games for an average of 177 and a total pinfall of 708. Jack Pearson followed closely, averaging 205 over three games to place 280th with a total pinfall of 615.
Rounding out the Warrior competitors were Cephus Beatty, who finished 303rd with a pinfall of 566 and an average of 188.7 over three games; Nolan Pepper, who placed 325th with a pinfall of 528 and an average of 176 over three games; and Cole Macaluso, who bowled two games for a total pinfall of 380 to finish 372nd.
The Warriors will return to action Dec. 6-7 when they travel to Addison, Illinois, to compete in the Warhawk Open.
