Warriors Compete in USBC Sectionals; White Qualifies as Individual
FORT WORTH, Texas – Midland University continued its postseason schedule over the weekend, competing at the Intercollegiate Singles Championships (ISC) Sectionals and Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) Sectionals in Fort Worth, Texas. Seven Midland bowlers competed for individual national qualification, while the Warriors finished seventh out of 19 teams with a total pinfall of 12,759 across 64 Baker games.
On Friday, seven Midland bowlers participated in the ISC Sectionals, where the top eight finishers earned spots at nationals. After six games, Kaeden White secured one of those spots, finishing tied for third out of 195 participants with a total pinfall of 1,371 for a 228.5 average. White opened with a 206 before heating up over the next three games with scores of 277, 246, and 259. He closed with games of 190 and 193 to clinch his place at nationals.
Cole Macaluso was the Warriors' next-best finisher, tying for 48th place with a total pinfall of 1,225 after recording four games over 200. Jack Pearson followed closely behind, finishing 54th with scores of 195 or higher in all six games for a total pinfall of 1,218.
Cephus Beatty finished 60th, bowling four games over the 200 mark for a total pinfall of 1,210. Zachary Wentzel tied for 127th with a total pinfall of 1,105 and an event-high game of 238, while Michael Saxton placed 147th with a total pinfall of 1,056.
Rounding out the Midland competitors was Nolan Pepper, who bowled two of his six games, posting scores of 160 and 222 for a total pinfall of 382 to finish 195th.
In team competition Saturday and Sunday, the Warriors sought a top-four finish to qualify for the ITC Championships. At the halfway point of the 64 Baker games, Midland sat in fifth place with a total pinfall of 6,359 — just 188 pins shy of the top four qualifying spots.
The Warriors slipped during the next 16 games, dropping to seventh place with a total of 9,572. After the final 16 games, Midland remained in seventh place, finishing with a total pinfall of 12,759 — 313 pins short of the final qualifying position.
While Midland's team season has concluded, Kaeden White will continue postseason competition as an individual at the ISC Championships in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, from April 14-18.
