Warriors Begin Indoor Season in Missouri

MARYVILLE, Mo. — Midland University opened its indoor track and field season on Saturday at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic in Maryville, Missouri. The Warriors competed in several events against teams from the region at varying levels, from NCAA Division II to NJCAA. Highlights from the meet for the Warriors included twelve top 10 finishes.

Isaac Dorn picked up his first collegiate win in the 60-meter race. He ran back-to-back times of 6.77 to win the event while also hitting the NAIA B Standard. Close behind was Isaiah Dorn, who finished in second with a time of 6.86. Both broke the previous school record and now own the top two times in school history.

In the 200-meter race, the Dorn Duo paced the Warriors with top-five finishes. Isaac placed third with a time of 21.79, while Isaiah was fourth with a 22.20. Isaac's time is the fastest in Midland history, while Isaiah's ranks 4th.

Koen Steenblok (2:29.12) and Braden Taylor (2:33.83) had strong season debuts in the 1000-meter event, finishing in 2nd and 5th place, respectively. Steenblok moved up to 4th all-time with his performance.

In the 1-mile event, Lucas Hjortkjaer led the field of competitors with a time of 4:16.04, setting a new personal record. He followed his performance with a strong performance in the 3000-meter event, placing fifth with a time of 8:57.65. Close behind was Steenblok, who finished 7th (9:07.84).

Jonathan Edberg had a strong 2025 debut in the high jump event, placing fourth overall (1.98m).

In the pole vault event, Pampa Raffin placed ninth with a height of 3.90m. Walker Ott also cleared 3.90m but placed 11th via judge's decision.

Up next, Midland will travel to Seward, Nebraska on December 12-13 to compete in the Concordia Early Bird.
