Warriors Soar to Several Top Marks at Wildcat Classic
WAYNE, Neb. – Midland University showcased its speed and strength at the Wayne State Wildcat Classic over the weekend, delivering an impressive array of performances at the meet attended by several schools from the region.
Aiden Mountain sprinted his way to a commendable 10th-place finish in the 100m dash, clocking in at 11.22 seconds.
Braden Taylor exhibited his endurance in the 800m race, securing an 8th-place finish with a time of 2:02.43.
Jonathan Mahoney demonstrated his distance running skills, claiming 6th place in the 5000m event with a time of 16:08.04.
Evan Shepard exhibited his agility in the 110m hurdles, clinching 4th place with a time of 15.30 seconds.
In the high jump, Midland dominated with Shandon Reitzell seizing the top spot by clearing a height of 2.12 meters. KeRon Blackwell closely followed in 2nd place with the same clearance height but more misses earlier in the competition. Robert Atwater and Ross McMahon continued the dominance, securing 3rd and 4th place respectively, both clearing 2.06 meters. Garrett Guindon also contributed with a 10th-place finish, achieving a height of 1.81 meters.
Atwater showcased his versatility by claiming victory in the pole vault, clearing an impressive height of 4.55 meters. Ty Beetison contributed with a 10th-place finish, reaching a height of 3.65 meters.
Atwater continued his winning streak in the long jump, soaring to victory with a jump of 7.52 meters. Aubrey Woodward also made a mark, securing 7th place with a best jump of 6.46 meters.
In the triple jump, Atwater showcased his dominance once again, securing his third event win with a best jump of 14.10 meters.
The Warriors rounded out their strong showing with a trio of athletes in the javelin. Josiah Meyer led the pack with a 5th-place finish, launching a throw of 52.12 meters. McMahon followed closely in 6th place with a distance of 48.91 meters, while Jase Voorhees secured 7th place with a toss of 48.75 meters.
Midland will be back in action in one week when it travels to Seward, Nebraska to compete in the Concordia Invitational. The two-day meet gets underway on Friday, April 5 at Bulldog Stadium.
