Warriors Make Final Marks in Nationals Tune-Up
SEWARD, Neb. – Midland University turned in a solid set of performances at the Concordia Twilight on Friday, collecting multiple top-10 finishes and setting several new marks in program history.
Leading the women's team was Kerrigan Myers, who placed 4th in the long jump with a mark of 5.49 meters and finished 12th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.49 seconds, tying for the seventh-fastest time in program history. Krista Hardy added a top-10 finish by placing 6th in the high jump at 1.57 meters.
On the men's side, Kenicious Limo claimed the Warriors' lone individual title on the track, winning the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:48.38. Robert Atwater cleared 4.76 meters to win the pole vault, while Garrett Guindon led a trio of top-10 finishers in the triple jump, placing 3rd at 14.17 meters. Kenya Ford (8th, 13.30m) and Jonah Martinez (9th, 12.43m) followed closely behind.
Jonathan Mahoney finished 5th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:56.90, the sixth-fastest in school history. In the 800 meters, Lucas Hjortkjaer broke the school record with a time of 1:52.44 (11th), while Henri Stoeckermann clocked the second-best time in school history at 1:52.93 (14th).
In the field events, Jase Voorhees placed 9th in the discus (42.55m), and Josiah Meyer (4th, 47.91m) and Jonah Martinez (8th, 43.75m) finished inside the top 10 in the javelin. Martinez also cleared 1.83 meters in the high jump to finish 8th, while Ford placed 10th in the long jump (6.57m).
Midland will return to competition next week as athletes compete at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships. The meet will be held in Marion, Indiana on May 21-23 on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University.
