Warriors Post Strong Marks at Central Nebraska Challenge
KEARNEY, Neb. — Midland University returned to action Sunday at the Central Nebraska Challenge. The meet, hosted by Nebraska-Kearney and Hastings, which was moved back a day for better weather, featured athletes from schools across the state, including other fellow GPAC members Doane, Concordia, Hastings, and College of Saint Mary.
Federico Migliano opened the meet for the Warriors in the hammer throw, placing ninth with a mark of 50.73 meters.
In the high jump, Jonathan Edberg finished sixth with a clearance of 1.96 meters.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Ja'Myri Bernard, Jameson Painter, Jason Jeffers, and Aiden Mountain placed second with a time of 42.38 seconds. The mark ranks sixth in Midland program history.
Koen Steenblok (1:52.79) and Lucas Hjortkjaer (1:53.92) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Steenblok's time is the second-fastest outdoor mark in program history.
Adding to the Warriors' list of top-10 finishes, Jameson Painter placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.77 seconds.
"We have had a large number of personal bests achieved during the first two meets of the season," head coach Daniel Gerber said.
Midland will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska, to compete in the Nebraska Spring Kickoff on April 3. The Warriors will also have a handful of distance runners compete in the USD Early Bird in Vermillion, South Dakota, on April 3.
