Warriors Roll Competition at Collegiate Cup Series Nebraska

FREMONT, Neb. — Midland University dominated the Collegiate Cup Series Nebraska meet this past weekend, winning 20 weight divisions during the two-day competition inside Hopkins Arena. The annual event, held Nov. 22–23, featured lifters competing in squat, bench, and deadlift across equipped and raw divisions. The Warriors controlled the meet from start to finish, posting individual titles in both women's and men's categories.

In the women's equipped division, Midland swept multiple classes. Alexis Iglesias won the 44-kilogram title, Calista Kumm took first at 52 kg, Niquela Vallejos topped the 56-kg class, and Jaylen DeHoyos claimed the 60-kg crown. Jenna Maler won at 75 kg, with teammate Kate Guzman finishing runner-up. Kaitlin Tagle added another Midland championship at 82.5 kg.

Midland excelled even further in the women's raw division, where the Warriors collected a series of victories. Ashley Lopez won the 48-kg class, followed by a Midland podium sweep in the 52-kg division with KayD Leal. Jessica Haggerty took first at 56 kg, while Madison Rock secured the 60-kg title. Madison Garcia and Alyssa Kwarciany finished first and second, respectively, at 65 kg. Jennifer Benavidez earned the 70-kg championship. Midland posted a strong showing at 82.5 kg with three lifters in the top four: Cali Cordova (2nd), Brooke Ruland (3rd), and Peyton Busteed (4th). The Warriors also swept the top two spots at 100 kg behind Kennedi Butcher and Jaycee Barnes, and they closed the division with a one-two finish in the 100+ class from Jiselle Olivarez and Madigan Lee.

On the men's equipped side, Midland continued its dominance. Felipe Garza and Braden Watson claimed first and second, respectively, at 52 kg, while Rudy Morales captured the 60-kg crown. The Warriors went one-two at 75 kg behind Ignacio Coronado IV and Hayden Cantrell. Mario Martin and Michael Garza finished first and second at 82.5 kg, followed by a Midland sweep of the top four spots at 90 kg, led by champion Ramiro Yanez III and runner-up Ethan Haynes. Cade Deal added a 100-kg title, Grant VanArsdel and Caden Jones finished first and second at 125 kg, and Kaleb Linares won the 140-kg class.

In the men's raw division, Midland's top performances included Landen Longoria placing third at 67.5 kg and Danerian Actlis winning the 75-kg championship with a dominant 748-kilogram total. Trayton Roa added a third-place finish at 82.5 kg, while John Strauch VI finished runner-up at 90 kg. The Warriors also posted a title contender at 125 kg with runner-up Nolan Hyde, and solid placements throughout the heavier classes.

With overwhelming depth across all divisions, Midland closed the weekend as the meet's standout program, capturing 20 individual titles and numerous runner-up finishes. The Warriors will continue their season will continue its season in two weeks when they send lifters to the Collegiate Cup Series in Denver, Colorado (Dec. 6) and in Houston, Texas (Dec. 6-7).
