Warriors Close Season with Victory Over College of Saint Mary

OMAHA, Neb. – Midland University took the court for the final time this season on Saturday, making the short trip to face the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. A strong defensive effort and a 28-point performance from Jenna Weber helped the Warriors extinguish the Flames and earn a 76-52 season-ending victory.

Erin Foxhall opened the game with a layup to put Midland on the board before Sarah Shepard's three-pointer and six points from Weber gave the Warriors an 11-4 lead with 6:45 left in the first quarter. Midland continued to shoot well, with Foxhall and Weber each adding six more points to help the Warriors take an eight-point lead into the second quarter.

Midland's defense locked down CSM to start the second, holding the Flames scoreless for the first five and a half minutes. The Warriors capitalized with a 10-0 run to extend their lead to 18. However, CSM fought back before halftime, converting three field goals, a pair of free throws, and two three-pointers to stay within striking distance. Midland entered the locker room leading 42-29.

The Flames continued to chip away at the deficit early in the third quarter, scoring the first three points of the half. The Warriors responded with a jumper from Ciera Jorge, followed by layups from Ellie Bovaird and Leah Redding to push the lead back to 14. Both teams traded free throws and layups the rest of the quarter, with Midland maintaining its 14-point lead at 58-44 heading into the fourth.

Midland put the game away early in the final quarter, opening with a 10-2 run to extend its advantage to 22 with 4:30 remaining. The teams traded baskets down the stretch before the Warriors secured the 76-52 win to close the season.

Midland shot 30-for-73 (41.1%) from the field and 3-for-16 (18.8%) from three-point range, while College of Saint Mary finished 16-for-56 (28.6%) overall and 3-for-19 (15.8%) from deep.

Weber led all scorers with a career-high 28 points, shooting 9-for-14 from the field and 9-for-10 from the free-throw line. Foxhall and Shepard controlled the boards, each grabbing 10 rebounds. Foxhall finished with 15 points, while Shepard added seven points and four assists.

The victory closes out Midland's season with a 5-23 overall record and a 5-17 mark in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Next year, the Warriors will look to improve while replacing its two graduating seniors, Erin Foxhall and KD Anna-Petersen.
