Bio

Coach Burks was named the head coach at Midland before the 2024-25 season. He comes to MU from Eastern New Mexico University, where he served as the lead assistant coach.

Before coaching at Eastern New Mexico, Coach Burks spent time at a handful of NAIA schools, including a stop at the University of Jamestown, where he earned his master's degree in leadership. He also coached at Our Lady of the Lake University, Southwestern College, and Schreiner University (NCAA DIII).

A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Burks was a standout on the basketball court himself. He signed out of high school to compete at Alabama A&M University before also competing at Wayland Baptist and ultimately ending up at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, where he earned a Bachelor's in Sport Management.
