Bio
Cam Schuknecht was named head women’s basketball coach at Midland University prior to the 2026-27 season after serving as an assistant coach for the Midland men’s basketball program since 2017-18.
Schuknecht brings more than 25 years of collegiate coaching experience to the role, including more than a decade of experience within the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). During his time on the Midland men’s staff, he helped guide the program through nearly a decade of conference and national competition while contributing to all aspects of recruiting, player development, and game preparation.
Schuknecht and former Midland head coach Oliver Drake previously coached together at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire during the 2003-04 season. Prior to that stint, Schuknecht spent one season as an assistant coach at Wartburg College and three seasons at the University of Saint Mary, including one year as head coach.
Before arriving at Midland, Schuknecht spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Luther College (NCAA Division III). He also served on the coaching staff at Nebraska Wesleyan University from 2004-06 before being promoted to head coach of the Prairie Wolves, a position he held from 2006-14.
While leading Nebraska Wesleyan, Schuknecht coached two NAIA All-Americans and three Academic All-Americans, while overseeing all facets of the program.
A former player at Wartburg College, Schuknecht was a two-year team captain while earning his bachelor’s degree in physical education. He later earned a master’s degree in exercise science from the University of Kansas in 2001.
