Four Warriors Compete in ZK Wildcat Open

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – With the conference meet just a week away, Midland University sent a small contingent of athletes to the Zach Kindler Wildcat Open on Saturday in Baldwin City, Kansas. Four Warriors competed in eight different events as they looked to better their marks one final time.

Shyanne Pipkin competed in four events with varying results. In the field, she placed 4th in the javelin with a throw of 33.54m and was 5th in the high jump at 1.50m. On the track, she ran a 29.34 in the 200m for 11th and was 12th in the 400m with a time of 1:09.05. Both times were season-bests.

Madyson Ray also saw time on the oval and in the field. She competed in both hurdle races, placing 8th in the 100m race with a time of 16.97 and was 5th in the 400m race with a season-best time of 1:08.60. In the field, she placed 9th in the high jump with a height of 1.40m.

Krista Hardy was the top-placing Warrior in the high jump, earning 3rd place with a clearing of 1.55m.

Emmalee Bartak rounded out the quartet of performances, competing in the shot put and hammer throw. She reached 9.92m in the shot for 16th and was 11th in the hammer with a distance of 36.08m.

Next weekend, Midland will join the rest of the conference athletes at the 2024 Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships. The two-day meet will be hosted by Northwestern College on May 3-4 in Orange City, Iowa. The meet gets underway at noon on Friday followed by a 9:00 a.m. start on Saturday.
