Warriors Wrap Up Season at NAIA Championships

MARION, Ind. – Midland University joined several other schools and athletes at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships this week in Marion, Indiana. The Warriors had a pair of athletes, Maggie Heesch and Krista Hardy, competing in the season's final meet, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.

On the opening of the meet, Heesch competed in the hammer throw inside Wildcat Stadium. Entering with the 25th-best mark, she was unable to keep the implement inside the vector, fouling on all three throws. The best throw of her junior season was 50.38m in her.

Day two saw Heesch competing in the shot put event where she was ranked 13th in the field of 26 throwers. Once again, she had difficulties registering a legal throw. She finished with a season-best of 14.06m after fouling on all of her championship attempts.

After waiting in the wings on the first two days of the meet, Hardy leaped into action in the high jump on Friday. Sitting in the middle of the pack on the entry list, she was able to clear the opening height of 1.60m on her second attempt. She was unable to get over the bar at the second height, finishing tied for 22nd. Hardy's season-best was 1.68m in her sophomore season.

The University of British Columbia won the team title and Red Banner with 137 points, followed by William Carey University (83) and Cumberland University (54).
