Warriors Place Seventh at GPAC Championships, Pair Claim Titles

HASTINGS, Neb. – Midland University's women's track and field team wrapped up the 2025 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Outdoor Championships this weekend with a seventh-place team finish, highlighted by a pair of individual titles and several top-eight performances.

Kerrigan Myers delivered a standout weekend, capturing the GPAC championship in the heptathlon with 4,796 points, the top total in the conference this season. In the seven-event competition, she recorded the highest mark in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, 200 meters, and long jump. Myers also placed second in the open 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.16 seconds, earning an NAIA "B" Standard qualifying mark. She added a fifth-place finish in the long jump (5.50 meters) and was seventh in the high jump (1.56 meters), scoring in four individual events.

Hannah Newton brought home Midland's other title, winning the high jump with a clearance of 1.71 meters, surpassing the NAIA "A" Standard in the process. She was joined in the top eight by Krista Hardy, who tied for fifth at 1.61 meters following a judge's decision.

In the throws, Maggie Heesch posted three top-10 finishes. She was seventh in the shot put with a mark of 13.18 meters, placed ninth in the discus (39.22 meters), and claimed fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 49.89 meters. Sara Diew narrowly missed the top eight in both the discus and hammer throw, placing 10th in each with marks of 39.18 meters and 47.09 meters, respectively.

In the distance events, Madison Bergstrom earned a ninth-place finish in the 10,000 meters, clocking in at 42:52.66.

Vanessa Rice also reached the finals in the long jump, placing ninth with a mark of 5.25 meters.

Midland will look to add athletes to its travel party for the NAIA National Championship at the Concordia Twilight next week. Currently, 14 Warriors will be making the trip to Indiana for nationals at the end of the month.
