Sophie Johnson joined Midland University as an assistant volleyball coach in 2026 following a standout collegiate playing career.

Johnson most recently competed at Oral Roberts University, where she totaled 264 assists and 175 digs in 2025. She also played at South Dakota State University, helping the Jackrabbits to a Summit League title and NCAA Tournament appearance, in addition to stops at Dordt University and Southwest Minnesota State University.

A former setter and defensive specialist, Johnson brings versatility and a strong understanding of ball control to the Midland program. She has coaching experience with Southwest MN Volleyball, working with athletes on skill development and team play.

Johnson earned her bachelor’s degree in business management from Southwest Minnesota State and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sport management at Oral Roberts.
