Warriors Drop Spring Break Opener in Florida
ORLANDO, Fla. – Midland University began its spring break trip with a neutral-site matchup against New College of Florida. The Warriors dropped the match to the Mighty Banyans, 7-0, on Wednesday morning.
New College swept all three doubles contests to take early control. At No. 2 doubles, Daniel Liebig and Angel Bustos put together Midland's most competitive effort, falling 6-4 to Timothy Phung and Carlos Quinones.
In singles play, Midland was unable to gain momentum as New College secured straight-set victories across all six courts. Unai Llerena battled at No. 2 singles before dropping a 6-4, 6-1 decision, while Martin Cisneros (No. 3) and Angel Bustos (No. 6) each pushed their second sets but ultimately fell in straight sets.
Midland will continue its spring trip on Thursday with contests against St. Thomas in the morning and Southeastern in the afternoon.
