Griffons Sweep Past Warriors in Non-Conference Match
KEARNEY, Neb. — Midland University was back on the court on Saturday for a dual with Missouri Western State University. Playing on the neutral site inside the Ernest Grundy Tennis Center, the Griffons defeated the Warriors, 7-0.
The Griffons secured the doubles point with victories in all three matches. Jevrosima Mitic and Alejandra Ramirez Botella defeated Midland's Ai Katsura and Ana Larreal 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Claudia Pastor and Johanna Priedite followed with a 6-0 win over Graziela Dallagnol and Malena Hernandez at No. 2, while Mila Larrieu and Cristina Granero Bol completed the sweep with a 6-2 victory against Lillie Johnston and Andrea Vasquez at No. 3.
Missouri Western carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Johanna Priedite topped Graziela Dallagnol 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Cristina Granero Bol defeated Ai Katsura 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2. At No. 3, Mila Larrieu overcame Malena Hernandez 7-5, 6-0, while Ella Gates earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ana Larreal at No. 4.
Claudia Pastor posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Andrea Vasquez at No. 5 singles, and Alejandra Ramirez Botella finished the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lillie Johnston at No. 6.
Midland (2-2) will return to action next week with four matches in Orlando, Florida. First up will be a Wednesday dual with New College of Florida.
