Warriors Drop Road Match at Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. — Midland University was back on the court Saturday afternoon, traveling to Omaha to face Creighton University at the Koch Family Tennis Center. The Bluejays controlled play throughout the dual, handing the Warriors a 6-1 setback.

Creighton took an early advantage by sweeping the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Yuma Daijima and Kirtan Patel defeated Angel Bustos and Jaime De Diego, 6-1. The Bluejays followed with another decisive win at No. 2 doubles as Zachary Kuo and Mathis Dahler topped Zhanxing Yu and Martin Cisneros, 6-0. Midland's pairing of Daniel Liebig and Unai Llerena dropped a 4-1 decision to Jack McMahon and Lucas Mommessin at No. 3 doubles.

Midland's lone point came at the top of the singles lineup. Martin Cisneros battled back after dropping the opening set to earn a 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 victory over Lucas Mommessin in a match tiebreak at No. 1 singles.

Creighton secured the remaining singles matches in straight sets. Patel defeated Yu, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2, while Kuo posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Llerena at No. 3. Dahler earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Liebig at No. 4, and Daijima downed Bustos, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5. McMahon rounded out the scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 result over Marcin Gniadzik at No. 6.

Up next, Midland (3-8) will be back in action on Sunday with a non-conference matchup with Baker. The neutral site dual is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in Crete, Neb.
